January 3rd, 2010 I was sitting as we all do on Facebook randomly talking with a friend about her husbands Deployment, We were just talking nothing serious but talking, It was that Night that my life was forever changed. I can still remember the silence on Facebook, then I saw the first post, from a friend of hers that said I am So sorry Tiff, Then another and another and another. It was that night that the first time in my life my heart stopped. She buried her soulmate a few weeks later in her arms sat her daughter, SRA Bradley Smith was laid to rest that day.
As the years progressed the pain in my heart continued what could I do to help the troops and the fallen to heal? what could I do to make a difference? It was then over 3 years ago I sat at this very table making a bouquet of blooms for Sgt Guillory, the blooms would be 21 in total 9 camouflage Blooms in Marine Camo, 6 yellow roses for the Yellow Ribbon and 6 American Flag roses for the remembrance of why he died in the war. It would be that day that my life would forever be changed. It would be that day that would be etched in stone It would be One year to that date that I would be making my 300th Bouquet of Blooms for troops. I don't typically post about them each one has its own story but when you get a phone call at 3 am that is a Mom of the hero you sent a bouquet too to say thank you for bringing me peace and remembering my loved one it is why I do what I do. Today in my home town a class mate passed his name was David Strother he was a hero to so many and today his family welcomed him home for one last farewell. Its never easy to understand why it happens we never get to ask God why he takes home the best so soon. But we do get to remember their legacy that they leave behind. So tonight while I sit at my desk covered in tears I will mend my heart once more with a bouquet for his wife, Mother and Daughter and Son one that will be weaved with love, patience, kindness, and giving one that will last for a lifetime that when the night is lonely and their is nothing left, she can sit and hold one stem of a bouquet to know her hero was never forgotten. Please remember my friend, my hero and my classmate today as we lay our heads down to rest. I ask that you pray for those who are serving our great nation both here in the USA and overseas that we keep them safe from harms way. May you forever be remembered as a Hero who died protecting my freedom I thank you CW4 David Strother for your service and ultimate sacrifice. And to the Class of 1989. May we find comfort every day knowing that God allowed us to be in the presence of a HERO. Want to help get more Bouquets in the arms of our heros familys you can order one here: simply request that the bouquet be donated to a hero if you like or if you have a hero you want to donate one to please email me at info@paperbloomsnmore.com and put HERO bouquet in the title. Blessings to all. because sometimes a Memory is written in a Book![]() She closed her eyes on her 18th birthday a ski trip to Canada , a memory she would have forever, then the day came when she would be called home. We never understand the reasons behind why we are called home to our father in heaven we simply go. The Wreath was made of highlights of her love for life, From Books, to vintage fabric and lace to a splash of bling it was her. The wreath contained over 18 blooms of each color and pattern to represent her life on earth all 18 years. The lace was from her Mother's wedding dress the day she got married because a wedding would never happen, The Rose symbolizes the love that was shared with her family , friends and strangers that would get to know her. ![]() |
